Join our team and become our Team Leader Laboratory Support.

Who are we?

GenomeScan is a service provider for innovative DNA and RNA analyses. We provide fast, affordable, and high-quality patient diagnostics. Our diagnostic services play a crucial role in identifying the causes of diseases and providing support for individual treatment plans. We also undertake projects for research groups and pharmaceutical and biotech clients.

We take on a diverse range of challenging projects using advanced Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) techniques including Whole Genome Sequencing, Gene-panel Sequencing, RNA- and Methyl sequencing, and various bioinformatics pipelines. Our laboratory is equipped with the latest Illumina, PacBio, Ion Torrent, and Nanopore sequencers, as well as robotic systems for automated sample processing. GenomeScan complies with international quality standards and is ISO/IEC 17025 accredited.

We are a professional and culturally diverse organization consisting of both young and more experienced individuals, centered around an informal work environment. We are constantly seeking ways to improve our services, such as developing new methods and validating new products and workflows. We bring the best out of each other and enjoy celebrating achievements together!

What will you do?

Your role is to lead projects to improve current services and implement new services within the lab department. You will also support routine production by overseeing the laboratory’s infrastructure, ensuring efficient and effective operation of laboratory processes, including robotized systems and software e.g. LIMS. You will:

  • Guide and instruct direct reports with the planning and execution of their work, including preparing and executing lab work, performing analyses, writing reports, SOPs and other related documents.

  • Plan and perform validations and verifications of new or improved laboratory workflows.

  • Together with other Team Leaders in the Laboratory Department, ensure continuous, efficient and cost-effective functioning of lab operations.

  • Oversee the implementation of new equipment and ensure timely maintenance and repair to minimise unplanned down-time.

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to your team, fostering a culture of growth, expertise and high performance.

  • Maintain effective working relationships with equipment manufacturers and suppliers.

What do we offer you?

  • A monthly salary between 4.160 and 6.240 euro (based on a full-time position of 40 hours per week), depending on your knowledge and experience.

  • An end-of-year 13th month payment.

  • A holiday allowance (8% of gross annual salary).

  • A total of 200 holiday hours (based on full-time employment for a full year) with the possibility of buying/selling leave hours.

  • A collective pension scheme, with 50% of the contribution paid by GenomeScan (partner pension is included).

  • A travel allowance or NS Business Card for your commute from and to Leiden.

  • A company laptop and telephone.

  • An inclusive and informal working environment in which you will be able to continue to develop your competences and knowledge.

  • Meaningful work with a challenging role in a passionate team at a company that believes that Next Generation Sequencing applications can contribute to improving healthcare.
